About Copyrights

Article I, Section 8, Clause 8 of the Constitution of the United States empowers Congress "To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries."

The Prophecy Society faithfully observes the Copyright Laws of the United States, and we expect all contributors to this website to do likewise. This gives you certain protections as a contributor. Any original materials you "publish" to this site are automatically copyrighted and you own the copyrights. By publishing here, you give us the right to display your material, and, for the purposes of understanding, you are granting us the right to display your material in our various publications indefinitely and without remuneration. However, we do not own your copyrighted contributions to this site; they remain your property.

The Prophecy Society website as a collection is covered by our own copyright notation on the opening page and at the bottom of each interior page, which means that all materials contained on this website are protected by the copyright laws of the United States and may not be printed, reproduced, distributed, transmitted, displayed, published, or broadcast without the prior written permission of The Prophecy Society, except under specific limited circumstances as described in our Terms of Service. This also gives you additional protection. If anyone wrongly uses your material, based on its inclusion in this site, we can join you in enforcement of your (and our) copyrights.

One additional note is worth mentioning here, and that involves the principle of "fair use." In general, you are free to include a small portion of copyrighted material in your own original work without violating the copyrights of the author whose work you are "borrowing." This could involve a quotation or small sample passage from another work, for instance. We request that you always properly credit the author when you do so. For an expanded discussion of the principles of fair use in copyright law, see Fair Use in Copyright Law on the Bitlaw.com website.

Finally, note that we assume no responsibility for content on other websites that you may find or access when using this website's services. Material available on or through other websites may be protected by copyright and the intellectual property laws of the United States and/or other countries. The terms of use of those websites, and not The Prophecy Society Terms of Service, govern your use of that material.
